At long last, the improvements to the Black River practice fields are underway. These fields, which are currently a series of rolling hills and valleys, will be leveled to ensure fair and safe athletic play. They'll also be expanded a bit, in an area currently overgrown with invasive brush, to make room for a total of six full-size playing fields. The improvement project is made possible by a $416,250 grant from from Morris County Preservation Trust fund, which covers approximately half of the purchase price of the fields from the West Morris Regional School District. Big thanks to Senator Tony Bucco and County Commissioner Steve Shaw for joining us yesterday. Our goal is to have seed down in the early fall, which is the optimal growing season.
